Having been active in the Minneapolis Rockabilly scene in the mid 90s, I developed a deep appreciation for its sister influences and discovered that the part of Rockabilly I really liked was the "Billy" and less of the "Rock".

I write all of my own material - this includes music and lyrics and I play most of the instruments, something that many people are not fortunate enough to do. It is often difficult receiving (mostly) only my own input, but in the end I am rewarded with compositions that reflect exactly what I had hoped to convey - without argument and without upset.

I've been around a long time. Most of my musical life was spent writing Industrial influenced pieces, but I always kept a candle lit for my more "grass-root" creations. Long considering western-styled music a hobby only, my main drive was to propel Dord Fian, the Sorrow's electronic counterpart, into the greater world.

Life changed. however, and while my love for Industrial music will never fade, it's importance waned. Maybe it's that I felt I never expressed my lyrics well against a mechanical background or maybe I got tired of fucking with synthesizer filters. Regardless of the reason, this music rings more true to my heart than anything else probably could.

While this website is relatively new, the Sorrows really began in 1996. Here's to 13 years of patience, whether intentional or forced.

Thanks for listening,

~Deirdre
